Aust Care Environmental Services is pleased to announce that has been chosen as the preferred contractor to perform bulk weed control, fence line clearing and property clean up works for the old Petrie Mill site in Brisbane’s north.  The site was transformed into a Paper Mill in 1957 and was labelled by Sir Robert Menzies as the largest industrial undertaking of its time within Southern Queensland.

Now this 200ha site is being transformed again – this time into a new campus for the University of the Sunshine Coast. The campus is expected to cater for up to 10000 students in its first 10 years with the first intake being in 2020.

As you can imagine the site has its fair share of weeds, both large and small and our client is enjoying having access to our sophisticated range of weed control and removal machinery. Our role will be to clean up the old Pecan Nut Grove area and help turn it into a parkland setting and also protect the large swathes of mangroves and protected salt couch ecosystems that exist along the banks of the North Pine River.

Our team will be using our Forestry Mulchers and excavators with large flail mower attachments. Both will enable cost effective transformations of the area. Once the bulk vegetation removal is done our Restoration Specialists will get to work removing weeds within the ecological sensitive areas along the river embankment and constructed wetland areas.
